One downside, Conroy Auckland Branch scheduled the pick-up time to be afternoon, giving only 1 business days notice. This was unworkable for me as this was conveyancing day following sale of the property, so my exit fom the house would have been too late for transfer to allow new owners possesion on that day. It took some pressure from me for a reluctant change to a morning uplift. With plenty of time with my booking the service, I should not have been pushed around for the convenience of Conroys. If my job was to be a burden on Conroys work schedule, then they should not have accepted the job, or alternatively, sub-contracted it out. However, on the day, the crew turned up in good time and had me out of the house in plenty of time.
The following day, delivery in at my new address in Napier actually did not happen until 4 pm; the container only came down from Auckland that (following) day. This timing was OK, but communication could have been better so I would have known that it would be later in the day. The 3-man crew who delivered the furniture were outstanding. I salute them, great workers, good communication and took good care.
Overall the service was OK and the pople we dealt with friendly and helpful. However, the communications could have been better. I did the order online and put Monday for pickup in Wellington and Wednesday for delivery in Hastings. The pick was conformed but not the delivery. When I enquired the Wellington office said I would be contacted by Hawkes Bay office. I didn't hear anything so on Wednesday morning I rang Napier and they said yes it could be deliverd that day. About an hour later thet advised that Thursday was the delivery day for Hastings and it would be there the next day. We had arranged for someone to be at the Hastings house on Wednesdday so this was a bit inconvenient.
Unfortunately we didnt have a very good experience at all with Conroys. Nathan who came and saw us originally was great, however on the move itself we feel we did not get a very good service for the reasons that follow.
The packers arrived at 8am on the day of the move as arranged, and they did a good job, were finished around 12 and we were told the truck would be arriving at approx 1pm to load up. The truck in fact didnt turn up until gone 3pm, which meant we were hanging around waiting for them to arrive. I had to call the branch to find out where they were as no-one contacted us to let us know they would be there at that time. As we were driving down to Wellington ourselves that day it meant we didnt end up leaving until gone 6pm which was not ideal for us.
When the guys left with the truck we asked what time was likely for drop off to be the next day, to be fair they said that they didnt really know but expceted it wouldnt be until the afternoon. They suggested we call the office in the morning to find out. Before I got a chance to do that, the truck turned up at our house in Wellington at 9am, to find no-one was home. There was no call or advice that they would be turning up at this time, and I received a couple of calls that I couldnt take due to being at work asking about delivery.
My wife arrived home at approx 9.40am, to some clearly frustrated staff at having to wait around, they were very unpleasant to deal with, complaining about the delay in unloading affecting their next job. They grumpily went about unloading our stuff into the house. They decided to have a smoke break outside our front door, so my wife had to shut the door on them to prevent smoke going into our property. Overall their customer care and service was terrible and my wife called me a couple of times to express her dissatisfaction at their attitude.
With regards to the unloading itself, there were a few issues. I have had to spend hours moving boxes around to the correct rooms as we had garage boxes in bedrooms, kitchen boxes in living rooms, basically they had dumped the boxes wherever they could, ignoring the labeling. We have a two storey house so I have been lugging boxes up and down stairs unnecessarily due to their incompetence which is frustrating.
Secondly, it seems there was a lack of care when loading/unloading the truck as we had quite a number of items damaged uncluding plastic storage boxes, our sofa legs snapped off, boxes crushed due to heavier ones being stacked on top, a dent in our fridge due to hitting a door frame and a dent in our piano. I understand sometimes damage is unavoidable, however we had less damage when we moved our items over from the UK to NZ than we have had with this move which seems to be down to a lack of care for our stuff.
I do have photos of some of the damage, if you want these I am happy to provide them. Overall its been a pretty bad experience with Conroys and I certainly wouldnt be using you again, or reccommending you to anyone, which is a shame as I work in the property industry so deal with a lot of people moving home.

Better communication around delivery time would be good
Thank you to MaryAnn, Daniel and the team. The process was easy and seamless. It was our first time using a moving company (and a big move for us), so I really appreciate how easy it was. Especially during lockdown and a pandemic. Thanks again, would definitely use again and recommend to others.
It would be useful to be advised of pick up and delivery times a bit earlier. I was advised of pick up 24 hours in advance. I was advised of delivery 1 hour in advance. I had booked motels at both ends so I could be ready for Conroys. Had I known times earlier i would have not needed to book motels. Conroy staff very friendly, polite and helpful.
Only dealt with the Tauranga team personally when they dropped off. Great attitude and my stuff was in my new place in no time at all.
The guys who packed our household items and loaded the container in Christchurch were very professional. efficient and friendly. Our container is currently in storage so hopefully there won't be any problems when it is delivered and unpacked.
