Sales consultant and physical removal staff were excellent to work with did a great job and are really nice men.
Unfortunately administration/office staff not so good, very difficult to contact our designated move manager, in fact was never able to contact her, also despatch gave very little to no advice as to when truck were arriving for our out of town deliveries. One staff member was extremely rude to one of the recepients of some goods, we had specifically asked that they be informed prior to arrival, they were told off in no uncertain terms for not being there when the truck arrived. When delivery was made the driver was very apologetic for the treatment
Long delivery delay. We understand this was due to many circumstances outside of your control, but more communication would have been appreciated.
Several items were left behind because they would not fit in the container. But when the container arrived there was a good six feet of space between the doors and the packed items. More than enough space to accommodate the bicycles and a few random items we had to leave behind.
This was the third time I have used Conroys to move our household goods, the first was from Napier toChrist hurch in 1984. They remain highly rated by me for their friendliness, cheerfulness and efficiency both in the office and on the trucks, often going beyond expectations to deal with our particular needs. They also get the job done in good time without unnecessary delays! No breakages, except one picture glass which was caused by me!
We relocated intercity from Auckland to Wellington. There were a couple delays in the programme but the Auckland rep (?) was professional and communicative which made the wait times fine and the guys were that showed up were friendly and efficient. An item was lost on delivery but the Wellington rep (Campbell) relocated it quickly and made arrangements for a quick and easy drop off. So not 100% smooth but a great bounce back on both ends and we really appreciated that aspect. Would recommend again, thanks!

The service was excellent right up to delivery . Communication was excellent. HOWEVER at delivery there were 5 wooden boxes that had been loaded by forklift but were expected to be lifted off at delivery end . We felt so sorry for Billy and Dan . The tool boxes had to be unpacked in the container and we had a chain of people lifting each single item out . This took time . The boxes had been labelled as needing a forklift .
We’ve had quite a negative experience with Conroy Removals. Much of the move went okay but we were left with some seriously damaged furniture which could have been prevented if the company had followed what it preaches on its website.
The problems which affected us are the result of management practices of wrapping and packing and staff employment.
Wrapping and packing were not good enough. We had a badly scrapped coffee table, a buffet with chips all over it and a dented microwave – all the result of poor wrapping and packing.
Apart from the driver and a female staff the other workers were inexperienced – didn’t know how to use a trolley, disconnected the dishwasher and left it leaking or not strong enough, dropped an end of a wooden tallboy on a concrete path damaging it. I had to help when it was clear the staff couldn’t cope.
Other issues: there was no inventory which has made it difficult for us to know if everything has been delivered. We are now missing a couple of small things and have no idea where they could be. There was also little connection between what we were quoted to be moved and what was picked up.
Insurance - when I contacted the Christchurch operations, I was glibly told that the damages would have to be sorted through my insurance as I didn’t take out insurance with Conroy’s. Not good enough. I will not use my policy to cover mistakes which go the heart of Conroy’s being a competent removal company. None of the damage which I observed would have happened and I wouldn’t be wasting my time writing this if Conroy’s have lived up to the talk on their website.
I would like to speak with someone from management to arrange compensation to repair our damaged furniture.
