"methods need improvement"
The first issue I had was that they sent only one person to do the preparation. I would expect a minimum of two, preferably three or more people. The end result was that it took him almost two days to pack everything and he was struggling with the heavy objects. I rang them about this and they were unwilling to commit more resources. This delayed packing unnecessarily.
Secondly, some items were damaged in transit. It's all minor stuff but it's never happened to me in previous moves.
Thirdly, some items went missing. One item turned up almost two weeks after delivery while another was never documented and disappeared entirely. To their credit they agreed to compensate me but I'm still well out of pocket.
Their staff are pleasant and work hard but I think their approach and methods need improvement.
"The packer was excellent"
The packer was excellent. However a lot of time was wasted waiting for the truck. I had to ask them to turn the music down as it was upsetting the neighbours and they took far too many smoke breaks.

A couple of things marred an otherwise great move.
Firstly, moving out of our Devonport home, a hole was made in a wall. Ok Conroys came to the party and fixed it, we think -although with no feedback we are not totally sure. Then the person who came to fix it put a scorch mark in the carpet - not sure how that saga ended.
Secondly, with the moving in guys. They were quite casual, both with where they placed things, stuff clearly labelled for an upstairs bedroom still in the garage etc etc, and somewhat casual moving things ie, unecessary bumps and knocks. One of the staff made the comment that it was quite unusual to have the owners there while items were being unpacked, and indicated that we were somewhat in the way.
So not quite the Conroy experience we have had in the past.
"Mixed dealings"
Mixed dealings but at the end of the day our stuff has arrived and there does not seem to be any damage so I would reconmend to a friend plus they were very competatively priced compared to other outfits. If your not in a rush and can put up with the downsides then go for it.
Downsides
- Packing - Not enough packing materials on pick up, we had to suppliment with our own (disapointing as we had paid for full pack and no refund offered)
- Communication - Awful, I had to instigate all comunication on updates (UK partners were great though).
- Time - took well over the quoted time for delivery to our new place.
- Missed one box off inventory (glad I double checked and had it added).
Positives
- Staff - Great, friendly and very helpful (both ends)
- Everything arrived in one piece.
- UK contractors they used for delivery were great.
"nobody contacted me about when things would arrive"
I had a great experience with the house being packed up in Auckland - he was very good. The experience at the Wellington end (delivery) was not so great as nobody contacted me about when things would arrive until i called up - i was told between 3-5pm - it arrived just before 6pm! I took a day off work and waited around so that was obviously frustrating. The guys who unpacked in Wellington were great but there were only 2 of them for my multilevel house, compared to the 4 who packed up in Auckland with a single story property! That meant me helping as i wanted to get everything in as it was dark by that point - totally not the fault of the guys that arrived (who, as I say were pro's at getting everything done as quickly as possible) but perhaps it could have been managed better at the operational end. It felt like delivery of my house contents was an afterthought. Even thought there were these problems I would still think to use you again as every staff member I've ever dealt with has been very helpful and friendly.
"I really like using Conroys and always do"
I really like using Conroys and always do...I believe they are very professional and overall efficient especially the office and booking staff who are also extremely polite and helpful!!! The move went well...however, it took a lot longer than I expected and cost way more than I had anticipated. My last move with less boxes and furniture from Sumner to Fendalton did not take as long as one of the guys in particular was very fast. This move took longer as one man was quite slow and spent quite a lot of time talking...to me etc...I tried to just get on with things but he did want to seem to stop and chat...which was a little frustrating as I was very aware of the hourly cost and time ticking by. This is not rely a complaint as such more feedback and my concern that the cost was way more than expected becasue of the pace of the move...thanks Robyn

I thought that I had paid for some of my furniture to be put back together in my new house in Wanganui but this was not the case as I had to do it myself.
"expected more than we received"
Price was relative to every other quote, went with Conroys as I remembered the family using them as a kid. Booking and everything was fine, a bit bureaucratic and had to give them the same information twice.
Load up was fine, guy in the truck and two strong lads - though I had packed and boxed the house thoroughly and moved everything to the front.
Unload was a bit poor, Conroys sent one guy in the truck to unpack and one very young worker to do the actual unloading - was not motivated to work or take good care of our goods, quite blatantly relied on us providing additional muscle, said as much when I was late arriving down from Auckland to meet the truck. Would have been hours longer to unload without us providing 2 guys to help. Would have expected that we'd paid for the truck to be unloaded without our help - our help was just a bonus.
Wasn't the end of the world, but expected more than we received.
"I am still missing a 21inch television"
I am still missing a 21inch television, so will talk to the office for the third time tomorrow to see what happens next with that.

"Truck Arrived 3 hours late"
Truck Arrived 3 hours late. Supposed to be 13:00 and they turned up at 16:15. The loaders were enthusiastic but a bit rough with the furniture. We had other tasks to perform on the day and instead of being done by 17:15 ot was 20:15. This mucked our day round considerably and the moving plan went out the windows and extended well into the next day. No communication unless you call and try to get some from dispatch.
The process was just OK on the whole. The second truck driver who arrived later on Friday to help was very unprofessional. Had a foul mouth which wasn't great for the neighbourhood children to hear. Reversed up the driveway to the new premises without even getting out and checking if he could get around a corner, consequently he couldn't and it took forever (and considerable loud swearing) to get the truck out.
It was also dissapointing that I had to clear out and package up my office mysef because they ran out of time to get it done.
Three of the staff were excellent - Scott, Aaron and Gracie.
