We recently moved some household items and furniture from Auckland to Christchurch, the overall experience was disappointing and we wouldn't be using Conroys again for future moves. We went with Conroys as they had the best quote, however the rest of the service was disappointing.
Packing:
The team that arrived for packing was rude. The lady packer was impatient in asking us what needed to be packed, when I showed her what we needed packed in the room, she said 'Well that's not on my packing list?'. I further clarified and she relunctantly started packing. Furniture or plastic tag boxes weren't bubble wrapped and we ended up with a lot of broken plastic boxes and furniture. One dresser we had was damaged due to it not being emptied and being set down on one side forcifully. Luckily we had insurance which meant we at least had the broken items reimbursed.
Delivery:
We were informed via email that we had a delivery date set. Days before the deliver date, I emailed the contact again to confirm that the deliver date, and the contact replied to the email saying "Yes it is as per the booking confirmation delivery is set for 16/01/26".
I checked them again the day before delivery asking when the delivery is arriving on the day, and changed my plans and waited around to make sure we can be home to receive the delivery. On the day of 16th January I got an email saying "Delivery date for this has not been confirmed yet looks like perhaps Next week".
I then asked for how the miscommunication happened, to which I never received a reply. A few days later I got a call from a different person checking if a new delivery date works, and we got the delivery in the end. However I was very displeased with the terrible communication and customer service. We also had a few items missing, but the team worked hard and found the missing items for us which arrived a few weeks later. Overall the customer service and communication was very disappointing.
There are damages to a number of items after moving with Conroys. Fridge is damaged, wooden headboard and table, chairs missing stops off foot. It was disappointing to see our lovely furniture being dragged across the deck of the container.
The staff were doing their best and were friendly and helpful. However, end result is the damages. If there were an improved way of moving furniture without dragging it some damage could be avoided?

Some parts of your service were fine but others let it down.
1. communication between departments and customers need addressing e.g I rang on Thursday to advise we had the key and to ask what time the delivery will be Friday, received a message to say the delivery team will advise later that day. I waited until around 11am to find out and was told they were waiting to hear that we had the key and delivery won't be before lunch, it arrived about 2pm.
2. Pickup and Delivery - The Pickup team don't know how to park a truck - we have a wide drive, a double entry driveway with a half circle in the front, but the half backed into the entrance (I have a photo to show you) blocking the vision of the people exiting the petrol station next door for 4 hours. Some minor furniture damage ensued.
We applaud the delivery team, their service, introduced themselves and very courteous and careful with our possessions - thank you.
Friendly Team
Friendly team but not the best care taken of items when unloading e.g. lounge suite cushions removed from packaging and thrown onto deck of truck. Prompt response to request for quote, clear communications and pricing.
Nelson Team Were Excellent
We were happy with the quote, service and packing, the Nelson Team were excellent. They worked well, packed quickly and professionally and were a pleasure to have in our home.
The delivery people appeared to be inexperienced and barely capable of unloading. The truck didn't have a ramp therefore unloading heavy or bulky items straight from the truck deck to the ground was an accident waiting to happen. It was unsafe as the two men and one young woman did not appear to have the skills or ability, to unload or carry heavy furniture safely. The fridge and washing machine were almost dropped and required assistance from both us and our friends helping us unpack. As we are 70+ and some with health conditions this was not the service we expected or paid for. We have moved with Conroys before and have always been happy with the work carried out.
The team doing the various roles - over three days packing, loading, delivery all very pleasant. As was Auckland office/ assessor. However communication regarding times to expect the various teams was poor. I had to text to find out when the packers were due. Second hand boxes were used and we all struggled to know what was in them as alot of various labels - not crossed off. I was moving to the second floor of a two-story home and if my brother wasn't there with his tractor/ tray they wouldn't have been able to do the move! And, again I didn't have any message on my phone of the ETA of delivery truck on the last day. I emailed Auckland the night prior and got an email in the afternoon to say they'd delivered at 10am that morning. Fortunately Tauranga called 30 minutes out from delivery.
The truck had no hoist.
Good Company
Good company to use with quick jobs completed. Only thing is to have an understanding when invoiced that most organizations will pay within 10 to 14 business days.

My 65 inch OLED tv was destroyed and I feel it was packed nowhere near good enough for the journey it was taking. It seems ludicrous that I took significantly more care packing some almost low value paintings. A comment was made by those delivering that the TV was not packed properly. I know I could have taken insurance, and in hindsight, if I have of witnessed the lack of protection on the tv, I would have probably done it.

Dented damaged items, i.e fridge, washing machine knobs bent, broken chair leg, smashed crockery, dented dryer, broken book shelf. Communication ok.
Need to use more staff on packing side and group items a bit better.
You damaged our furniture, it was expensive! You didn't stand by the quote you gave us and charged more for moving. Our budget was tight and it blew it! Mel was amazing to deal with. The movement of our furniture after pick up was great in terms of it reaching us in time. That we are grateful for! The boys that delivered the furniture to the farm were great also.
