Disappointing Delivery
While the pick up in Hastings was pretty efficient, the delivery in Nelson was disappointing. A wasted afternoon was spent in an empty house awaiting delivery. After being advised that the delivery would happen about 1.30: then 3.30 then 4.30, at 4.45 my call to the Nelson branch was finally answered first by someone in the Auckland office and and then transferred to Christchurch where the helpful man I spoke to told me the truck with my furniture was heading my way, not from the depot but from an edge of town delivery. It finally arrived at around 5.15 on Friday evening, the hour when most workers are ready to knock off and have a drink. On a hot Nelson evening I’m sure knocking off was more important to the delivery men than best practice offloading of my furniture and effects. A male friend who I had co-opted to help me( and who to my embarrassment had wasted his afternoon ) helped the driver and his offsider unload the cartons from truck. In their haste to get my scotch chest around the difficult stair corner rather than take the drawers out and manoeuvre the lighter carcass, ithe delivery men forced it around, damaging not only the drawers but also putting scrapes and a hole in my freshly painted wall. Two oily stains were also made on my brand new carpet. Other pieces of furniture showed evidence of less than careful treatment and three boxes marked "fragile" had deep gouges in them although the contents were undamaged. It was almost as if marking a box 'fragile' singled it out for rough treatment- I’ve never before had boxes gouged when moving house. Many of the cartons Conroys supplied were marked” Allied Pickford; the careful movers”. I wondered after this experience whether I’d chosen "the careless movers." I was disappointed at the damage to my furniture and to the house that I’d just had repainted and carpeted ( as a precaution I’d covered all the floors except the stairs where having loose covering would have been dangerous). I realise that Friday’s are the busiest day of the week for furniture removals but to be given ever later delivery times meant that the whole afternoon was wasted waiting for the truck. If I’d known at 1 pm that it wouldn’t arrive until 5 much better use could have been made of the time and I wouldn’t have inconvenienced my friend. While I was happy that the delivery men worked after 5 pm to deliver my effects I wish that they had taken the same time and care that I suspect they would have taken had they been making the delivery at 9am. ( this is not a user friendly review site- it is difficult to reread and edit as only the last line of writing shows- even when editing the top of the page)
"Surprised at lack of protection/packaging"
Good communication re delivery & slight delay; effective & cheerful delivery. Surprised at lack of protection/packaging of furniture & appliances for up to 6 months storage-resultant dents, scuffs, marks & damage bore this out. Resultant not our problem response disappointing
Move Took a Little Longer Than Expected
Of the three guys, one was awesome and he loaded the truck with great care, one was experienced but he had no idea of space and was rough with the big items crashing a couple of times even after I advised him of how the items were moved in last time (he tried the opposite and had to redo the way I guided orginally). The third guy seemed new on the job and was carrying one small item at a time, he also had no periferal vision so couldn't judge what was around him well. The move took at least an hour more than I believe it should have and they were rough on some items. I have used Conroys before and found them fantastic and I have used other movers and had no worries, so I feel I am pretty realistic about what I expected from this move.
Arrived In Good Condition
Packers forgot to pack items from a garden shed, however overall our household contents arrived in a good condition.
Few Hiccups
Unfortunately there were a few hiccups on the New Zealand end of my move that left my belongings languishing in a warehouse for a month. When the Napier staff were notified they were all very helpful but it took 3 visits to their offices before my possessions arrived after being in Conroy’s hands for almost 10 weeks. The delivery that was finally received was missing an item that we only discovered when we returned to Conroy’s Napier offices to return an additional item that was delivered from someone else’s delivery. Whilst everyone involved has been very pleasant and helpful and I would consider Conroy’s for future moves I would do so hoping that the mistakes and delays that accompanied this move were the exception not the rule.
Generally Happy
We were very happy with the service from the collection point in Taupo and the delivery to our home in Auckland. It was discovered when unpacking the furniture that an antique chair had been broken due to heavy items being loaded onto it. Both the Conroy employees acknowledged this and contacted their boss to inform him. They also requested I speak with him, which I did. It was a very frosty conversation and clearly he was unimpressed that his two employees had admitted liability. We also filed an email immediately to your office. The truck took the chair back to your depot and we have not heard from anyone again. This is clearly unacceptable and I would like to know asap what has happended to the chair?

Several large items left behind
Several large items left behind. Rug, metal filing cabinet and ebike which we had to deal with. We noticed damage to washing machine (dented) as being moved. We hope condition / drop off after storage is better handled.
Packing Wasn't Quite Up To Standard
I Would have liked to have given your company 5 stars. The service at the Auckland end especially Henry, Moses and the rest of the team who delivered at Puhoi deserve 5 Stars.... they were polite and friendly... very effiecient and respectful of our belongings. But unfortunately we were disappointed with the packing at the Perth end....it was very random...there is somebody on your team who needs a bit more training...most of the boxes were picked well and travelled intacked..but there were a few boxes where items had just been thrown in without any care. I have photos of one in particular which contained a retro standard lamp and shade (shade was destroyed as no packing applied) and all other items in the same box were just thrown in...I was quite upset also about our beautiful antique dresser which was poorly packed and the legs were destroyed.... I did expect a few breakages and would have accepted the loss if the boxes all had been carefully packed....at the end of the day if we had had insurance we could’ve replaced some items but there were items that cannot be replaced. ...and if packing had been up to standard we would not be having this conversation. Anyway thanks to the boys at the Puhoi end they were terrific.
"met the pick up & drop off dates promised"
The day before the move I was contacted on the telephone by the depot in Auckland to be advised the van would be coming at the end of the day, rather than what we had specifically arranged in the morning. Admittedly, after I had a spew, the arrangements were changed, but being told that I shouldn't have believed to the sales rep was poor customer relationship management, and it achieved little but to throw fuel onto the flames. Also the other thing that has annoyed me is the labels you guys use, which are the ones that don't peel off nicely, so I have spent hours with turps rubbing sticky residue off everything. Also, the removal guys did not possess basic tools such as screw drivers and allen keys to dismantle stuff. The crew on delivery in Wellington were awesome, and deserved the crate of Heineken I gave them. Even though I gave you 3 stars (which should really be 3.5 stars), I would use again becuase the price was good, and you met the pick up & drop off dates promised, and nothing was broken.

Some of the goods did not reach us, which is a concern and further worrying is that those items were marked off on the list when they delivered...?
"Excellent service from start to finish"
Excellent service from start to finish communication was great and very affordable and competitive shippjng costs. Will be using this company again to ship my car back to NZ in July. Keep up the great work guys!!

In general the guys on site were fantastic and worked incredibly hard to get everything done for us. We understand that a move is a logistical juggling act but:
The crews were great, very obliging and worked non-stop and, so far, we have had only 1 broken bottle of wine (in a box they did not pack). The logistical organisation on the other hand was very disrupted and communication was not good.
