3 Star Experience
The reason I have scored your company at a 3 and wouldnt recommend is because of our experience with the team who moved us out of our house in Havelock North.
They arrived late.
Only 2 men available for a 4 man job
Our calls to the local office were met with excuses by the manager who explained that people were off sick and that was why the team was a man down. That's understandable and happens but not our problem!
The manager was amazed that we would want to vacate the property before 6pm that evening
More men arrived 1.5 hours later after 2 polite but directive calls from us
Team expressed a negative attitude about the company and their manager repeatedly
On a number of occassions I requested a team member carry furniture with a mate not becuase he couldnt handle the weight but he was unable to control the item properly which resulted in damage to walls, doors and the furniture. (On unpacking our wooden furniture in silverstream I found every item to have a new dent or scratch)
One team member worked efficiently and non stop. The other team members needed constant supervision otherwise they would chat and loiter and as no one seemed to be the supervisor this fell to us to do.
They were all friendly and polite but their attitude to work resulted in us having to actively manage the move so that we could leave at a reasonable time so our buyer could move in.
All of this was unnessary as we could have moved out any day that week and had explained this to the agent wo came to quote for our move.
We feel our needs as a customer weren't taken into consideration and we were caused easily avoidable work and some stress.
We'd have appreciated a phone call at the start of the day explaining the crew problems and assuring us Conroys were doing everything they could to ensure our move went well.
By contrast we had a great experience with the team who moved our contents into the house in Silverstream. They were considerate, efficient, kept us well informed and were willing to accommodate us.
All phone calls to the helpline and emails came promptly no problems with billing and all other paperwork.Your online service is very easy to use and confirmation came promptly
The storage experiance was trouble free.

"Not impressed with our delivery"
Although, the staff that packed us were fantastic in Australia, we feel not as much care was taken in NZ. Boxes of food placed on top of glassware & fragile items. Quarintine did not retap boxes, boxes were wet & crushed. Many scratch marks on items eg. Large smart TV, where boxes were opened in Quaritine etc. Not impressed with our delivery, very sloppy, heavy items placed on lighter items, food in garage etc. The guys at Conroy office were great with their communication to us, pre delivery. Thankyou
"slightly disappointed with the lack of care during the move"
We were slightly disappointed with the lack of care during the move. There were obvious situation where damage could occur and little effort was made to mitgate them. Speed of getting the job done was more important than making sure it was done properly. Luckily little damage was sustained. However it is not nice to show the house to the new owner with minor damage to walls!
We did ask for special wrapping for glass tables and while this was agreed, it was not made available on the day.
Overall we are neutral to the questions of using Conroys again or recommending them.

Your Tauranga department were brilliant , delivering the Short Term storage and helping set up. They took some items back with them as they belonged with the Long Term storage. At the time of packaging, we had to tell 3 different persons which was which. Surely, telling the first person taking the notes on a laptop , should be enough, the others doing the packaging should be given a copy. We are missing basic items such as our vacumn cleaner & iron, which I will have to go and buy.. Corrine Kearney
A few damages
Staff when packing and handling client property need to be more carefull when handling. I have damage to my dressing table both from when goods were packed to remove where obviously the person packing when removing mirror has broken one of the arms the mirrior sits on. Upon having furniture then moved to new house, there is damage to the front of the dressing table where the wood is broken.

No one told us actually how big truck was live on a farm very wide driveway still had to get a chainsaw out and trim my beautiful trees. Carpets were cleaned the day before asked movers to wipe boot still had mud trampled into my carpet. Were told they would be here between 10:30/11 arrived at 12:30 which made me 40mins late to collect my 5 year old from school. Guy was friendly enough and careful with furniture. Feel he was let down as he didn't have any help got a kid from some workforce place to help him who was the size of a stick!

We were told that movers would dismantle anf reassemble beds. This did not happen. My husband luckily had tools available to do this while the truck was being loaded. Movers put boxes in random rooms and stacked boxes in walkways. All painted furniture has scratches from the move. Outdoor furniture was placed in the garage meaning it had to be double handled by us once the movers had left. The driver was nice and friendly and did a good job stacking the truck. Nothing is broken.

We used Conroy removals twice over two days - the first day the service was poor with gear being left in the truck and the enthusiasm of the movers was low (they chose to stand on the tailgate of the truck and wait for our guys to do the heavy work). The second day was much improved with a young man who was very keen to help especially with the heavy lifiting.
"I'll use you guys again"
I was a little disappointed about that lack of communication after being told that my various items would be delivered on Wednesday afternoon, was finally rung Thursday night to say that my items wouldn't be delivered till Friday morning.I appreciate that you are a busy company, but when you put your life on hold to await a delivery and it doesn't arrive it gets quite frustrating, but will recommend your company for people to use if shifting, and I'll use you guys again as I have plants to shift from Blenheim to Ashburton, cheers

Over all a great service, thank you. The moving staff were great and responded to my exacting packing instructions very well. The communication between office and moving staff is poor, some of the required packing materials never eventuated and I ended up packing and transporting some of the more precious items as a result, in fact I used a whole roll of my own bubble wrap ($80 worth). Also the moving staff where late arriving as they went to the wrong destination.
My finial problem is there is still one missing outdoor planter pot - Morris and James 800cm high, turquoise - it definietly went into the truck with 2 little ones which arrived but this one hasnt, I have talked to Hastings about this and not heard back.
Firstly I would like to say the Packer in Napier was brilliant. He did a great job and the work he did (including packing 2 pictures across the face of my antique clock prevented more damage than occurred). He made only 1 mistake - putting a pottery statue in with some metal statues (but I too thought it was metal until it was damaged), which would not have mattered if the Movers were OK. He had a large 4 bedroom house to pack alone, so next day some of the Movers helped - mistakes were made (like bed bolts, see below)
My largest concern was with the Movers (can't tell if it was Napier, Wellington or in the middle somewhere). Here are the major things that were wrong.
1. I knew we were in trouble when several of the boxes moving into the new house were bashed at the corners or in a couple of cases ripped down the sides.
2. A Bedside cabinet had something heavy (like the foot of something) placed on it which went right through the top. This is beyond repair and will involve getting 2 new bedside cabinets.
3. An antique clock wrapped in fragile wrap had something heavy on it to the extend it went through the wrapping. Thank God the packer had protected the clock face But the wood above the face in indented.
4. A glass shelf wrapped in fragile wrap has taken a heck of a knock to beak away at least 5cm strip from a corner (thick glass so when wrapped that was a heck of a knock)
5. A bookcase has had it's back pierced. Again a knock or heavy object?
6. The statue mentioned before, well wrapped had an arm sheared off and a small mark to the head. Only way I could see this happening from well wrapped and in a box is a violent dropping of the box or slammed against something.
7. Framed certificates and a picture mural, all wrapped and in boxes had glass broken in the frame. Fortunately only broken glass and the certificates / pictures underneath were unharmed.
8. All but 1 bolts that make up one of the beds is missing. The 1 bolt we have was on the floor beside the bed frame. I can only guess they were left loose on the frame and are lost in transit. At this point I have no idea where we will find replacements and are 1 bed down atm.
9. Dowels were left in bookcases and some also disappeared in the move.
We have taken our possessions, including the antiques to Britain and back as well as 3 moves in New Zealand without a scratch or a dent. Well most of the above is minor damage (but some items will need throwing out, repair or replacement) it does not sit well with us that once out of our sight our goods were not treated with respect and care.
