It was a different story unloading in Tauranga. The helpers sent to unload were a disgrace. Sweaty, topless young blokes with no idea of how to unload without causing damage. It seemed that 5 or so unloaders were too many and they were in such a hurry. It was far too rushed! They turned up with a parcel of fish and chips which was left in the doorway throughout the unload. Dirty handprints over most of our furniture, fingerprints all over new TV's etc. (TV's require special care...new screens should not be touched). Bed mattresses dragged over wet grass and so on. After the unloaders left we had to clean up their mess.... empty drink cans, packets etc. Certainly an uncomfortable and below basic standard experience.
We did find however that one of the 5 unloaders, the one with a leg injury, was respectful and considerate.
It is obvious that these men require some training in how to carefully and considerately handle client's furniture and possessions. It is not a race. At the very least teach them to wash their hands.
Friendly service however did not receive a call one working day ahead as advised to confirm time of pickup. After ringing on the day of pickup (at 8.30am) to confirm time, was advised I would be contacted immediately to confirm. No phone call was received and no one had still arrived by 4pm. Business closes at 5pm so rang again to find out what was happening and got no reply. Rang again next morning to advise no one had phoned or turned up. Received apology and advised again someone would call immediately. Received the phone call 2 hours later advising items would be picked up later that afternoon. Removal guys apologized when they arrived for the delay due to being really busy and were very friendly and efficient. Items arrived at destination within time frame given and received phone call to advise. Luckily there was no urgency in my removal so being picked up a day late was not a major problem, but a phone call at the start would have been appreciated to advise they were behind schedule. Would still recommend as a removal firm as prices were much cheaper than other firms I contacted for a quote and overall was very happy with the service.
Although the moving team were very pleasant and polite, they were very rough with the furniture. We ended up with scratches on a lot of our furniture. My gas barbeque has dents in the hood and the cover is torn in a number of places. My daughter had an inherited porcelin rabbit which was very frangile and it was placed at the bottom of the box with all the other things from her room on top of it. There is a bit that still needs to be unpacked and I'm hoping there is no further damage. The bulk of the furniture is accounted for except for and antique chest leg, which was loose and fell off while being carried to the truck, the packer picked it up and told my wife he would make sure it was packed with the chest or it got to our new home, which it has not as yet.
Pro's : The guys who packed and did the uplift were very hard workiing. The guys who delivered the goods were also very hard working
Cons: Communication from the Operations department was non existent - re both the timing of packing and the delivery - definite need for improvement.
Sticky signs on all the major furniture are too sticky and very hard to rermove
Having moved 32 times in my life with various companies I would suggest that Conroy employs a best practice sytem for attaching cords to TV's, computers etc when packing...ie masking tape them to the back of the device. The same can be said for nuts and bolts to fasten tables, chairs etc together - we have wasted many hours trying to find the specific bolts for the computer desk, outside furniture, dining table as they were not taped to or indeed in the same box as the said item.
Although the overall move has been relatively hassle free but it could have been better especially in terms of commuication and logical packing of cables, bolts etc - which is ok for us but I would hesitate on recommending you to a less experienced relocator.
Very happy with Melbourne leg of journey. Janelle was amazing, very helpful and diligent in every aspect.
Very disappointed with NZ leg. Susan asked for documentation that had been uploaded to the portal and provided already. No communication regarding delivery at all. I had to keep touching base to see what was happening. Delivery was delayed.
Delivery guys were nice and friendly and was happy with this service.
Would definitely recommend if using in Melbourne, not sure regarding international service.
I have requested my parcel to be delivered on 17/12 since I m out of Auckland. The request has been acknowledged. However, the parcel was delivered much earlier which I was not informed. The mover also did not help to unpack the parcel. More effective communication is much appreciated.
Napier branch was exceptionally helpful and professional. We were so grateful for the man that helped us pack and made it easier for us. But, when we received our household items our upright piano was badly damaged and not taken care of. We are very gutted that our upright piano was laying down on the floor of the truck. So, we just ask to take more responsibility and care when delivering people's posessions.
Great service for pick up in Christchurch. But delivery shocking in Auckland. The driver did nothing, left the poor off-sider to do all the lugging, while he sat on the back of the trucking smoking. I had to ask him to help at one point because there was no way one person could manouver the tall boy and tv cabinet into and out of the lift. I am a small lady, 60, and was not going to help in that way. Also it seems they have not been advised that the delivery involved several metres walk from the truck to the front door and into a lift and out and into the apartment. I happily paid extra for this as I know that does involve more effort. They said had they known they would have been allocated an extra person. The driver thrust the clipboard at me to sign off numbered items he was removing from the truck. I couldnt do this as I was sorting the slightly earlier delivery and set up of my new bed. I am annoyed the driver treated his colleague this way. That needs addressing. He was plain lazy. I have used Conroys before and would again, because it was just one staff member's attitude making that difference.
Good updates and lovely delivery man at NZ end, however inaccurate advice given to UK sender by UK office (they advised her that sheepskin boots could not be sent erroneously (some confusion with wool products)!), which resulted in problems and extra costs.
As I was not there to receive my stuff my nephew did for me. He is an ex removals manager and was not happy with the container truck used, the driver or the way my gear was handled
I am not sure we would use your services again. You need a "not sure" box.
We were disappointed that only one person was allocated to pack our house. My wife and I felt obliged to pitch in and help Stephen. We are not spring chickens and did not expect to put in the physical effort required over the two days Conroys was working for us. Stephen was pleasant to work with but his packing was, by necessity, rushed. No inventry was taken and the boxes were labelled illegibly. It took us two days to find our cutlery! We have several antique items but only one chair was bubble wrapped. We were told blankets would be adequate. This attitude contrasts strongly with our experience with other moving companies who bubble wrapped many more of our items. Towards the ned of the day we ran out of boxes and the kitchen had to be left till the next day because no-one was available to deliver more packaging.. On day two we were pleased to see that, in addition to Stephen, two younger men (Gerard and Dan) were there to pack and unload the truck. They were cheerful and worked hard. Even so, my wife and I felt obliged to help - even though we were told we didn't have to. If we hadn't, the unloading of the van would have gone on until way past the approx.5.00pm. that we finished. The men were exhausted and I wonder if the original scoping of our three storey property was appreciated by the assessors who gave us the quote. I understand that it's a busy time of year, but it did feel as if your team is under-staffed. Overall impression: great staff, but working under unreasonable pressure.Quoted price was very reasonable.
Our second move with Conroys in two years. The first was brilliant, this one not nearly as good. Packing lacking, some annoying unnecessary damage on lounge suites, storage cuboards, trunk, lack of correct labelling on beds etc and no help at all in setting up anything on arrival. Very pleasant crew but just a bit lacking in attention. The admin side has been good with immediate follow up and offers of assistance.
