Of clients surveyed said they would recommend Conroy Removals to othersWe are a return customer based on previous service. This time was a liitle disappointing in that damage occured to the building front glass door but no-one made us aware until we were contacted the next day by an irrate building services manager!! We are now involved in a multi party discussion to try to sort this out, with talk of bonds being witheld, insurance claims etc. Looking for Conroy to take a lead and sort this out please.
Only disappointment was that I specificially asked for delivery on the 15th August in Auckland. When the day arrived I was told the delivery was scheduled for the 17th. My docket clearly says the 15th. Not good enough - but I'd still use Conroys again.
communication was absolutely terrible
couldnt get a hold of anyone anytime i called to check on goods
trailer arrived here when we moved into our own home on weekend & was missing half of the bed base & a statue .. was advised they didnt know where it was & that we wouldn't get it that day, finally arrived that avi
just overall not a great experience for first time
Communication was good prior to move. Nice guys but more interested in speed than care. took risks with items that in my opinion should have been more than one person lifting them. This resulted in them dropping a BBQ down 2 flights of stairs and breaking the tile on the floor in our entrance. Said someone would come back to me about it and never did. lots of minor damage to other items as well. wish they had took an extra hour and took more care.
Our engagement with conroys started out well with good correspondence with us on the process involved in packing and moving our belongings. However move day itself (Friday) was disappointing for us. We had requested earlier in the week that the movers turn up and start as early as possible (8:30am) as we were concsious of being out of the house in time for the new purchaser to start moving their items in. The response from Conroys was the movers normally started between 8am-9am but nevertheless noted our request for an early as possible start. On Thursday (day before moving day) we had expected a call to confirm a guaranteed start time for the move but we never received one. On moving day we received a call from Conroys stating the movers would not turn up until midday; this was disspaointing and unexpected to hear and immeditiately put us under pressure. They did turn up at 10:30am to start labelling items however what followed was a logistical nightmare of waiting for specific trucks and vans to turn up from other deliveries to pick up our belongings. We had a conroys van sit outside our house for an hour doing nothing but could not use it as we had to wait for another van to turn up to actually load our belongings. Eventually everything was packed by 5:30pm, much later than it should have and this resulted in myself and the new purchaser waiting around for several hours. The guys who did the actual moving were very good and took care of our belongings it was just the poor organising and management of the day that let us down. We had booked this moving date several months in advance and should have been given much more focus from Conroys than we ultimately received on the day.
I was disappointed that there were small bits of damage to the Tall Boy from the Bedroom, the China Cabinet, the TV cabinet and my near new Fridge Freezer. I felt Tim was very inexperienced as He put the tallboy on the Trolly with the draws facing the handle, I asked Him to turn it around as by putting it hard againgt the handle can damage the soft timber. He made a comment about it being ok, I said I didn't want it like that and to turn it aroundplease, which He did but as it happens there is a small dint and a scratch to the bottom of it now. I don't feel He took the job of handling someone's furniture seriously. I would recommend your service to friends but feel new Employees should have training on how to handle someones effects and not be blas'e about it like Tim was.
Great service and nice people that I dealt with, but have only given 3 stars because of a couple of things. I have never used a moving company before and thought it was a "full service offering", so didn't wrap any furniture or provide any rags/fabric protection before the guys came to pick it up.
The guys who picked it up were good and generally seemed to take care with my furniture, but took everything directly into the truck without any wrapping or protection, including my mattress and base, which was dragged along the truck floor so when it arrived at destination I had to clean it. I watched this happen but when the guys are moving all your stuff you don't want to piss them off in case they stop taking as much care. Interestingly when the mattress and base arrived at destination they had been bagged in very competent plastic wrapping, and so all the much and dirt from the truck floor was just inside the wrapping at that stage... bit pointless but at least it probably stopped further dirtying.
One of the items moved was a timber chest, which is a relatively simple item to move because it has handles and it just needs carrying. Somehow during transit though it must have been opened, items moved around so they no longer sat flat beneath the top, and then the lid forced closed again, because when it arrived one side of the lid was protruding up proud, and one of the hinges screws had been forced out so I will need to repair. There is no need for the lid to have been opened and anyone would have seen that they were damaging the lid hinges when trying to close it so it's a real shame then didn't take a few seconds to rearrange the items inside so they sat flat again. I did it and it took about 5 seconds.
I will use your services again but may shop around for prices to get comparative quotes. I remember shipping ( for servicing) my large cricket bowling machine to ChCh and back to HB. Was $60 each way. Was bigger and weighed more. Though I would admit, it was 4 years ago but diesel hasn't gone up that much.
We note the following:
- The guys moving the furniture into our home in Wellington were punctual, friendly and efficient, and their strength was incredible.
- We paid for unpacking as part of the service. I clarified with Cindy Eichstadt that the team coming would do the unpacking for us and she confirmed.
- The team that unloaded the truck said they weren't told they were to do any unpacking, and came unprepared with nothing to cut any boxes open with. We didn't have anything either, as we understood it would be done for us.
- Once we'd found my husbands tool box we found some makeshift items to assist the guys in the unpacking process. Some items were unpacked but after we found a number of scratches on furniture items that were unwrapped by the guys from these tools we decided it was best that they didn't do any further damage.
- There are a number of scuffs on the walls, door frames and scratches on our hardwood floors, however we accept that some of this is likely to happen when moving furniture.
- We were told that we could call and the boxes and packing material would be collect when we were ready. We're still trying to chip away at the unpacking as it is difficult with a toddler and newborn.
- While unpacking we found rubbish in a number of boxes including empty red bull cans, used tape rolls and food packaging in the bottom of boxes which our belongings were then packed into. A number of boxes were only secured with a single strip of tape on the bottom and weren't sealed at the edge seams. I think we're very lucky that the we didn't end up with ants or other bugs throughout, or any broken boxes.
- A freestanding mirror that was dismantled for packing should have had screws removed, instead the crossbar was ripped off the screws. We suspected that there may be some damage to this item by the packer as we found the washers and other fixings left on the floor and not packed at all. Fortunately, my husband picked them up. The same young guy also didn't know how to remove a lampshade from a lamp and instead ripped the fabric shade off the frame.
- In Sydney, they guys were several hours late, and perhaps were rushing as a result. In saying that, all our kitchen items were packed impeccably and the senior people were fantastic to deal with.
- I understand these last few points relate to the Sydney team, however it paints a picture of our impression of Conroys.
- Some items were damaged, including the cover of our bbq being slashed, however we suspect that may have happened during the customs inspection.
- As noted above, we paid for unpacking services and it wasn't provided. Entrusting others with your personal belongings in your home is a difficult things but we chose Conroys for this. We didn't receive part of the service we paid for, and we think it's appropriate to receive a refund for that.
Thank you for requesting our feedback, I'd be happy to discuss any of the above further.

The removal men arrived late. They almost could not fit the items into the truck as the truck was too small. They did not have the list of items. They were told 3 beds. But there was garden furniture, a lounge chair (which they didn't cover) and some small items. So the truck struggled to fit everything in. I thought this was unusual, as your man Scott had come around and made a checklist, which was emailed to me. They actual moving part went smoothly and the men were very nice. The men also left a large amazing of plastic covering and rolls of tape behind at the first address.
Great friendly movers with obvious experience, unfortunately still waiting on some stuff to arrive
