The initial person I spoke to was very helpful and responsive and gave me an estimate over the phone of about $2.5K for the move, including packing. They needed to see pictures before finalising the actual cost.
I sent through pictures and the quote was given to me. Unfortunately it did not include packing of the items on the premises which was what I had requested.
I needed to phone again to get them to update the quote.
The quote was updated and resent. I phoned back to agree with the quote and MaryAnne Fernandes took my credit card details over the phone and charged my card. Unfortunately the insurance component was not deducted from my card, and they needed to do another transaction. This was done by Sally Sok resending me the information with a link so that I could make the payment. The automated system that sent me these details of what I needed to pay was very clunky in that the amount that auto-generated was the total amount of the move, not the insurance component. I then had to look up what that amount was, then change the amount on the form. Also with the automatic charge of 2.5% to my card I was not sure if I needed to actually include that when I typed in the new amount.
As a suggestion, please just build in the bank's charges to your quotes - makes life so much easier for customers and probably the staff not having to remember to tell the customers.
So off to a bit of a rocky start. However, great communication in ringing me the day before the arrival re packing everything up, and the day before again to let me know when the items were to be delivered. They also rang me when the truck was leaving Napier so I knew pretty much what time they would be here. We are a rural property, so I didn't think there would be any access issues, so perhaps before delivering, as a suggestion, talk to the customer to let them know what kind of truck would be arriving, just in case. I didn't expect such a large truck for not a large number of items :-)
Colin, in Auckland, was great. And the guys that delivered the items to my address were very polite, helpful and professional. Still unpacking everything, but at this stage all good, nothing is broken and everything has been well packed and itemised. Great idea with the numbering and the inventory checklist.
All in all, the staff were friendly and very accomodating.

Packaging was good and delivery was an isssue. The delivery guys caused two holes on the wall in the house during delivery and one they did not report, seen when arranging my stuff and the other shown to them and told to becareful. They are aware and did not bother to mention this. Overall avergae.
Quote was competitive, Derek noted all of our specific requirements. The packing team led by Glen was awesome. The delivery team unfortunately consisted of only one Conroy employee, who was also awesome, however he only had one local worker to help him and although this person worked to the best of his ability, he did struggle at times. This made it a long day and a hard day for the one Conroy employee, who was fantastic and very patient, don't know what would have happened if we did not have friends available to help. It was a shame as we were told that there would "be a team" to deliver and set up. Hence could only score a 3 star for overall performance.
Accepting order was a bit messy, especially on smart phpne.
The guys that came to load the container were nice, but not very professional. The one guy was complaining about the time it was taking to load all our "shit".
Our dining table (very solid) and dresser were broken (they are fixable, but I shouldn't have to) as well as a number of other furniture items badly scuffed. I'm not sure if that's the state it arrived in or if that's the fault of the team unloading the container because I wasn't here to receive it. We're yet to finish unpacking and see if anything else has been needlessly damaged.
Although I'm glad that our stuff arrived early rather than late, I was told it was being delivered on Tuesday and planned accordingly. However, I received a call late on Friday that it was being delivered on Monday morning, and that they couldn't deliver it on Tuesday as originally stated. This meant I had to scramble to arrange someone to receive our container, as we were only due to arrive in Christchurch late on Monday.
Overall it was a pretty mediocre experience, bearing in mind I've moved more times than I can count, including internationally and never had things so badly damaged. It suggests a lack of care and respect for other people's hard earned things. It is just stuff, but it's disappointing when we take good care of it only for someone else to mistreat it.
I was disappointed with breakages (one box must have been dropped as I had china smashed) and damage to furniture. Your young delivery men in Nelson appeared to be inexperienced and not sure how to manoevre furniture, such as my 3 seat leather settee, around corners. I have moved several times, always packed my own possessions and never had any damage before.
The picking up and drop off of our househood items was great , but most boxs packed where mislabled or incorrect . This was really dissapointing as we were putting most of these into storage until we found our home, we ere left with no choice but to open all boxs check and relabel correctly.
This was done over several weekends, and should be adreeseed so that other customers dont have the same problem.

Everything went very well until our 75" TV was unpacked and found to be broken, completely unusable. Conroy's team who unpacked it made comment that it was very poorly packed and no wonder it broke. Conroy's are taking no responsibility for their staff. As our insurance was only for 30 days we will be out of pocket for $5000 to replace the same TV. Great service until the end but I'd never use Conroy's again.
Your communication was terrible and made a stressful time even more so, with having to chase for expected pick up times. There was damage to the property during the first pick up (which was promptly fixed, but should never have happened in the first place), items werent wrapped as promised by team on the day (sofa cushions & beanbags not put into plastic bags) and there was damage to the fridge which was not wrapped and which I've still not heard from anyone regarding a solution to.
Late arriving, waited around for an hour after time said.
Otherwise friendly and helpful service.
Overall a mixed experience. I had ordered full packing and moving services from them. Customer service was very good. Quote was very reasonable and they were flexible with dates. Throughout the process, communication was generally excellent.
Covid meant that there were massive delays and massive additional expenses that I, the customer, had to pay and accept without challenge. The delay meant that instead of 55-60 days, as originally estimated, it took 140 days. The delay was global and hard to avoid, I imagine.
Upon delivery, mostly everything was intact and as expected. However there was one glass tabletop that was smashed as it was not packaged correctly by the movers in Auckland. Additionally, when wrapping our furniture, they taped directly onto the items so we now have permanent adhesive marks on several pieces. I was diligent in taking a video of every single item that was to be packed just before the movers began working and, unfortunately, some items have disappeared. They were set to be packed, but never arrived. Customer service stopped communicating with me when I raised this issue and only offered that the missing items must still be at the old address. As we were moving overseas, the house was completely emptied and there is no chance they were left there after the movers were done. We did a walk through ourselves and confirmed with the movers that nothing was left behind.
Unfortunately because of the excess attached to the insurance policy, I was unable to actually recover any of these damages/losses. I really wanted to give these guys a glowing review, but alas it wasn't meant to be. Can't give full marks with damage and missing items.
I used your service to move to Christchurch to Wellington in february, and despite one item getting slightly lost for a few days was super happy with the enitire process which is why I didnt seek any other quotes when moving back to Christchurch. I had quite a different experience on the way back though. The guys who uplifted my items did not show me or get me to sign any paper work despite me asking about it, they just loaded my stuff and left. Which was a bit disconcerting. When my stuff arrived in Christchurch a few of my plastic boxes were broken and a few of the lids were smashed and the mattress bag I had wrapped my mattress in had a few large holes in it and the corner of the mattress was damaged where it had obviously been dragged along the ground. . On the way north nothing got damaged.
