Hi Conroys
We recently sent 4 large items (bookcase, fridge, lazyboy & double bed) from new Plymouth to our daughter in Wellington.
This week the items arrived. The lazyboy is missing or sent to another house, the leg on the fridge has disappeared and brackets in the bookcase are missing.
That 3/4 items are missing or damaged is disappointing.
Would like to use Conroys again but would need these things sorted.
Regards Lynda
Thought having to pay for cartons , many of them second hand was ott . Weve shifted household goods with Conroy many times , always returned cartons .We also paid for goods to be stored in Chch , presume they spent a month in container on wharf in Wellington . Our insurance company also thought our goods in storage facility in Chch .mitigating factor Covid. We think that some form of recompense is necessary . Eventual delivery very good .
My only moan would be tht the old guy stressed me out from the ph call and when he arrived. Telling me it was a huge job and didn't know if they could do it. I had 80% of the contents outside. I panicked and called a friend to help because i was given the impression the job wouldn't get done in 2 hours as i had paid for.
The job took 1hr 10 or so minutes.
The move went well, I was extremely impressed with the young boys, especially the fair one. He politely guaranteed me the job would get done no problems.
My suggestion would be to the old guy to assess situations correctly and provide a nicer way to communicate. Not impressed with tht bit at all.
Otherwise the ladies taking the calls and the young boys made the service great! So ty i will be recommending your service 100%
Also the old guy ended up being nice and helpful would have been nice yo have tht from the start.
I had next to no communication from the office from the person assigned to us leading up to our move. When I did manage to talk to her she wasn't very friendly at all. I didn't feel important to the company at all. We were contacted by a person I presume was the scheduler informing me When the truck would arrive. They were late. It took what appeared to me to be a very long time to load the truck. There were only two guys to load, others were supposed to come but didn't turn up until the job was nearly done. They were nice enough guys, very friendly. There was some damage to our furniture even though they had wrapped stuff. I advised your office serveral days before the move that the truck would have to go to the back entrance to unload as the main driveway was far too steep and the back entrance was fairly level. The truck arrived at the main driveway and tried to reverse up the drive to no avail. I said to the driver I had told to office to use the back entrance. He told me he did not receive any notification. The only thing with the back entrance was it was not on concrete so they tramped dirt, sand and grass into the house, carpet is fairly new. It wasn't until I suggested they put some protection down that they did this.
So overall I wasn't impressed with the company, I'm afraid to say.
I spent what was to me a lot of money (over $4000) and I'm afraid I don't think I got good value for that.
Whilst I have answered yes to the above questions it would have to be under different conditions. Gordon the person who managed our shift was very good to deal with but unfortunately we had a number of items damaged during the shift, a smashed TV cabinet, broken handle on our bedroom side table, wripped portion on 1 of our lounge suites and a gouge out of another portion of the same lounge suite which is obviously very disappointing.
I would also add that the perosn helping pack the truck in Cromwell, a local as I understand it, was an older man but was very rough with some of our items so when we saw the damage that had occurred we werent surprised.
The good:- Very efficient packing and uplift, delivery from warehouse to final destination was understaffed (understandably due to Omicron).- Well staffed, well planned throughout (except for delivery) and reasonable pricing. These guys are pros.
The not so good:- Two big furniture items, ie a queen size mattress and 3 seater leather couch were overlooked and not packed prior to uplift. Resulted in a missing leg, torn base, heavily scratched leather couch, and a very dirty mattress (as inevitably these stuff will have some contact with the tarmac). - Packing is generally safe but wasteful in materials. Ended up with 6 boxes of paper waste- Will only communicate timing on the day prior to move.
A lot of our big furniture items got very scratched as they hadn't been wrapped and secured in the blankets properly. A few furniture items were not covered in plastic and are now filthy and stained. Our dining table, tv unit, and baby's crib are really quite damaged with scratches which is very disappointing. Our antique record player that was clearly labelled 'fragile' and 'to stay upright', had been stored upside down in the truck, and the inside got broken due to the rough handling. A few smaller items had been bent to fit inside boxes (including antique taxidermy), so they have also been damaged. More care needs to be taken when packing, loading and unloading to ensure fragile items are safe and instuctions are followed. On delivery, I noticed that the blakets were all removed, then furniture was dragged out of the truck which resulted in scratching. I would possibly use your services again, but would keep a closer eye as things are packed and delivered to ensure thye don't get damaged.
The Auckland did not deliver twice when time had been set. When office was called about delivery the person was rather rude
Communication generally good until covid decimated the office staff. Misplacing 8 boxes not a good look either. However, overall would probably use them again.
A couple of items were not well packed and sustained some damage during the move. I would recommend taking more care packing and transporting items.
This was the third time I've used Conroy Removals and it was not the same service I had expected and come to know in my past experiences. The fact that you no longer provide boxes, even recycled boxes, free of charge is the first thing that I noticed that was different and very surprising to me. This wasn't clear when I accepted the quote. I also paid $7 for a King plastic bed cover that I never received - the truck that came to drop off the recycled boxes and the bed cover didn't have a size big enough for me, despite me making the order. I ended up using a plastic cover my parents had brought with them just in case I needed it.
On the moving day I had to call two people (one responded to my phone message on moving day with an email! Like I would be checking emails!) to find out what was happening as the truck had not turned up well after 1pm. (I was told between 11 and 12 arrival). When I did finally get hold of someone, they told me of the issues in the morning with a driver calling in sick with covid, so the truck was late leaving Napier. I understand that this is a tricky time but I should have been notified that the truck was late. I had house inspections at the property I was moving out of and in Napier on that day. It was very stressful. It really isn't good enough that I had to call to find out what was happening and when the truck would be arriving. It's not the customer service I had expected from Conroy.
Next time I move, I'll be considering other companies much more seriously.
The guys who did the removal and delivery were great. I have no complaints with the job they did. Nearly everything arrived in great condition.
