I used chess movers to move my household items from Australia to nz. I was happy with chess and the way they packed and looked after my gear. Very professional.
However once my gear arrived in nz, Conroy movers took over the delivery process. I was happy with the communication from conroys.I did request my good to be delivered Asap. I had to ring them up chasing down a delivery time and date so I could sort out being home. What I wasn't happy with was the drop off.
when the guys opened the rear truck door I was shocked at how my stuff was stored. It looked like they had just chucked everything in there anyhow and was not packed for transport properly at all, which I'm guessing is why we had a broken chair (like it was smashed not just broken) and also dents in our beautiful bedroom suite.
also my partner asked them to put stuff marked garage obviously in the garage, only to come home to find garage stuff all in the house eg tools, hose reel esky's and so on. Not sure if the blokes could read or not!.
So happy I got my stuff not happy with delivery!!.
Our overall experience with Conroys was average. Some aspects were really good. Packing of house items was generally very good, particularly the kitchen and smaller items (more care could be afforded to pictures and frames, but none of these were damaged). The quoting process was also very good. However removal and delivery was poorer than expected. Specifically, a number of items were damaged in transit. We can excuse accidents (e.g. our fridge was dropped) but there were multiple items of furniture also damaged and having watched some of the moving process we felt that some of this may have been avoidable (e.g. if beds were properly broken down, and drawers and clothing were removed from the tall boy, they would have been much more manageable to shift). Staff were mostly friendly. Would we use again...? Maybe but only if we shifted valuable and certain furniture items ourselves.
Movers were lovely and time efficient.
They did arrive however 1.5 hours before my advised time slot which is inconvenient as I had to pay by the hour and was not home upon their arrival.
Our experiences with the intial contact Olive Raj were ... not up to Conroy standards.Luckily I had dealt with MaryAnne previously and so I reached out to her. Our issues were then promptly handled, in a professional friendly manner. Usual props to MaryAnne. Both of the moving teams (pick up and offload) were both friendly, responsible and helpful. Very happy to have them helping us out.Unfortunately the lower than usual rating is a result of Olive having a substantial effect on our experience this time around.
Unfortunately a few of our belongings were broken upon opening which included a Crystal sphere, champagne glasses and a large glass vase
also a mirror was not collected with my other belongings in New Zealand but it was listed on the invoice I was quoted for, so wondering if I would be reviewing a refund for that missing item ?
look forward to hearing from you,
Kristina Jordan
We moved houses, opting for the "Pro Pack Boxes" service. The packers came the day before the removal and were reasonably efficent. There were two things we told them that we needed overnight/next morning...our TV components (sky decoder, remote controls, amplifier, etc) and our coffee machine. The packers said, "no worries, we'll pack up those things tomorrow". The next day - the day of the uplift - we reminded them about the TV components and coffee machine, and they said "yep, no worries". We then went to our new house and the truck duly arrived. After unloading all the boxes the Conroy person said "there wasn't enough room on the truck so we left behind 2 lamps and a couple of smaller pictures". Which seemed fine. We then spent the rest of the day/evening unpacking boxes, specifically searching for the TV components and our coffee machine. The next morning we still didn't have a working TV or a coffee machine. We then returned to our old house and, sure enough, the TV components and the coffee maching were still there. They'd also left behind about 20 of our art works - including several of our larger pieces. Far too much to load into our car. Some of these art works are quite valuable and they'd left them behind in an unsecured house. And they'd also left stuff from our garden shed lying outside on the front lawn, in the rain - including an electric hedge trimmer. They'd also left behind a couple of their trollies and a large stack of their blankets. This was a Saturday morning, so I tried phoning the 0800 to see if I could get some help moving the last few items, and cleaning up their mess, but there was no answer. Not good enough.

- More notice needed than the day before that our shipment was to be delivered - More patience from delivery guys when bringing boxes into house. Ended up with so much in the wrong rooms as wasn't given time to think of where things were to go - 2 men stayed to assemble some furniture but had not a single tool to assemble furniture so only used hands to lightly screw a bed and table together which was ridiculous being assembly is part of the service.
For ease of moving to/from Napier/Hastings. This was my 3rd move with Conroys and the worst as far as condition of packages/boxes are concerned. A lot of the boxes marked fragile and breakables were badly squashed and dented. Yes a few breakables. But I packed those so totally accepted that. But two plastic tubs one with light weighted Christmas decorations were completely smashed and broken. One lid where I held all my co trainers of screws, nails, curtain hooks etc. was completely smashed on top. Dining table, tv cabinet, headboard are all worse for wear with scratches and dents and some paint chips on corners. Whilst I do appreciate how many times one item needs to be handled. This is by far the most impact I have seen. I also have a parcel which belongs to another client. Whilst I appreciate how easy this is to happen. It always does make you wonder if you are missing something too. The marking of voxes and items off the truck can sometimes take a while to find and then you also need to give instead to what room to put things in. So things can easily be overlooked.
I know we have had a lot of disruption after covid. But I received 6 dates for my things to get to Australia. And it was supposed to leave in January 15th. This made it so hard to comit to a rental and I let 3 go as I could not give a proper date as to exactly when my furniture would arrive. Then finding it did leave on schedule the very last time.
also. The packers weee good whilst I was present. The moment I let. The neighbours told me they took breaks. When I returned a few hours later with cold beers, they still had a huge amount to do and the truck arrived before they'd actually finished. So it pays to be present even if you're in their way!
We have moved many times and used the services of several different removalists both internationally and domestically. This time quite a few items arrived broken, and there were inappropriate genitalia images drawn on our packaging. However, the delivery team that delivered our items in Brisbane was very friendly and helpful. A bit disappointing.
Hello
Alister and Zac were great and did a fantastic job of delivering my goods.
I am disapointed with the packing of some of the items. Sellotape was used on my stainless steel table which has resulted in large sticky marks on the surface of the table. There was alot of mold on items, especially anything wooden. I have had to throw away all the wooden serving and choppping boards. Several pieces of art have mold in them. The mattress had mould on it. My daughters ball dresses are missing - though I can't see them on the inventory. They were left in the wadrobe in the main bedroom in Wellington to be transported to Auckland.
Thanks, Christine
