I will not be unpacking until after new carpet is laid in week of 28 August. I accept there can be issues when moving. My gripe is that I was not told about them, and staff need better/more training in regard to reassembly of recliner chairs.
All staff pleasant to deal with, and those with Christine and Rachel were excellent.
The communication leading up to the move was good and the quote professional which was why I went with Conroys. The guys who packed up my household were friendly and efficient, however, their handling of my precious belongings was a bit rough. A very valuable painting's frame was damaged on two of four corners, a glass vase broke in transit, the glass top of a console was scratched, and they gouged a wall lifting a chest of drawers up some stairs. Items that should've been kept together were split into different groups, making re-assembling a bed, for instance, impossible. All the staff I dealt with were friendly and helpful, however, for the price I paid, I expected more respect for my property.
The guys who packed up the truck and unpacked at the other end were very lovely and respectful, and did a generally all around fantastic job. Unfortunately one of our pieces was left behind at the depot when our things were first dropped off and it was a bit of a hassle trying to organise our lives around waiting for it to arrive on a subsequent day.
No complaints with the 2 guys that did the moving, they were on time, professional, careful with our furnature and efficient with what they did.
The 3 Star rating is based on the Comms & Admin around billing.
1/ We were initially billed for 30min more than the job actually took. Had I not been able to verify the times via Google Timelines this wouldn't have been picked up. I would have expected a company of the size of Conroys to have a Fleet Tracking system (eg ERoad / Navman) such that arrival and departure times were determined automatically.
2/ I wasn't expecting to pay for a smoko break in the middle of a 2hr move. I know the movers need their smoko, however given the size of the job (6pcs of furnature & 2 pot plants) I would have expected smoko to have occured either before or after the job.
The guys were not told about the driveway, which they couldn't get the truck up. They were not told how much they were collecting. They were given a truck with no tail lift or ramp, some of the things being moved were extremely heavy, such as fully loaded full sized tool chests, and they had to lift these by hand, risking damaging the item or harming themselves. Their treatment makes me not want to use Conroy again, they were great guys and did an awesome job, they deserved better. Aside from that communication with the office often took days to get an answer to questions.
Although the pricing was competitive and pre-move administration communication good, there appeared to be little communication between the pricing team and the removal team on the day. The removal team were surprised to find our driveway couldn't accommodate the removal truck and they spent considerable time debating what to do before attempting to back the truck up the driveway, damaging a tree and ripping up the grass beside the driveway in the process.
We did not feel that the removal team were particularly professional, with minor damage to some of our furniture through rough handling and, notwithstanding it was a wet day, carried mud through parts of the house on their shoes and the furniture trolley.
In contrast, the pre-packing team did an excellent job, were courteous and professional and all packed items arrived in good condition apart from a couple of broken glasses.
Unpacking on arrival at our new house went relatively smoothly.
Having a removal team kitted out in a "Conroy Removals" tee shirt or overalls would go a long way toward creating a professional image on removals day and we felt that we had been given the 'B' team.
Overall, the service end-to-end was great. Price was really competitive. Only reason I gave 3/5 was, although it was communicated ahead of time that on the day of delivery, we would be driving through and thus the delivery date would need to be in afternoon, the gentleman who called on the day to arrange the delivery was quite rude and came across almost like 'I know you won't arrive before 3pm so either we deliver this morning, or we deliver in 4 days time'. So while on the road I needed to scramble to try find someone to open up our property. Left a really sour taste in my mouth.
The 4 person delivery crew led by Glen were fantastic. They were hard working, professional, careful, and respectful of the goods and house, whilst being great at communication. Their part in the process was 5 star all the way.
There were some difficulties in Conroy's communication dealing with the originating US company and as a customer I did everything Conroy's representative asked to get the US company to communicate, but I did not appreciate being given the ultimatum that unless I paid for the NZ delivery in advance, for a service I had already paid for, my goods would be withheld and I'd have to pay additional storage charges. I got the US company to pay so this did not happen, but the ultimatum should not have happened either as this should have been sorted out between the companies without the customer having to intervene. This significantly reduced my rating of the experience.
Items were damaged on arrival so I wouldn't recommend the service to others
I found that the only person that was helpful was Susan, who went out of her way to try and assist.
On delivery goods were water damaged, broken
Shipment sat in Conrroy yard close to 4 weeksa
My TV got broken in transit and I still haven't heard back from the insurance company.
Educate staff on basic insurance claim steps and processes. It's a stressful time when something gets broken and having the awnsers instead of pushing the phone around doesn't help.
