Only reason I gave 3/5 was, although it was communicated ahead of time that on the day of delivery, we would be driving through and thus the delivery date would need to be in afternoon, the gentleman who called on the day to arrange the delivery was quite rude and came across almost like 'I know you won't arrive before 3pm so either we deliver this morning, or we deliver in 4 days time'. So while on the road I needed to scramble to try find someone to open up our property. Left a really sour taste in my mouth.
The 4 person delivery crew led by Glen were fantastic. They were hard working, professional, careful, and respectful of the goods and house, whilst being great at communication. Their part in the process was 5 star all the way.
There were some difficulties in Conroy's communication dealing with the originating US company and as a customer I did everything Conroy's representative asked to get the US company to communicate, but I did not appreciate being given the ultimatum that unless I paid for the NZ delivery in advance, for a service I had already paid for, my goods would be withheld and I'd have to pay additional storage charges. I got the US company to pay so this did not happen, but the ultimatum should not have happened either as this should have been sorted out between the companies without the customer having to intervene. This significantly reduced my rating of the experience.
Items were damaged on arrival so I wouldn't recommend the service to others
I found that the only person that was helpful was Susan, who went out of her way to try and assist.
On delivery goods were water damaged, broken
Shipment sat in Conrroy yard close to 4 weeksa
Unfortunately a communication's breakdown towards the end, which was frustrating. I know there are challenges getting stuff between the islands, which is also frustrating for Conroys, but working on.
overall pleased with the service. Great staff that I dealt with m.
Still Waiting
Still waiting for goods. Called on Friday (16/06/23) and apparently container had only just arrived in Perth - we sent goods in February!
We are still waiting for our goods to arrive. We have not heard if they have arrived in Australia. We would like an update.
Dirt Carried In
The guys did good. Our only complaint was the dirt they carried into the carpet at the delivery location. It would be unreasonable to expect the lads to take their boots off and on but protection of carpets and tile surfaces should be a priority. I grabbed a pile of the blankets a d spread them across the floor which minimised the problem but feel that this was something they should have done rather than expect me to do it. If clients are expected to provide such protection they should be pre-warned.
The teams that did the packing and delivery were very efficient, friendly and made an effort to ensure that the houses were not damaged when moving the furniture and boxes into/out off the houses. So far, the only items damaged in the packed boxes, are a coffee mug and 2 x aluminimum chinese steamers have been dented and are misshapped.Quite a few pieces of furniture were damaged in the move. It looks like not enough blankets were used or as if other items have been pushed across another piece. Two holes were punched into the back of my retro sideboard and a piece of veneer was chipped off. In the last 44 years, this cabinet had been moved 6 times without being damaged. There is gouge in the top of one of our headboards. The carving on my camphor wood glorybox was damaged.A 2-piece wall unit and TV unit in whitewood mysteriously have blue marks on them.A yellow handcart was not in the delivery truck. We haven't been able to assemble one of our bedframes as we cannot find the brackets. Nor have we been able to find any picture hooks to hang our pictures and mirrors.
Although the pricing was competitive and pre-move administration communication good, there appeared to be little communication between the pricing team and the removal team on the day. The removal team were surprised to find our driveway couldn't accommodate the removal truck and they spent considerable time debating what to do before attempting to back the truck up the driveway, damaging a tree and ripping up the grass beside the driveway in the process.
We did not feel that the removal team were particularly professional, with minor damage to some of our furniture through rough handling and, notwithstanding it was a wet day, carried mud through parts of the house on their shoes and the furniture trolley.
In contrast, the pre-packing team did an excellent job, were courteous and professional and all packed items arrived in good condition apart from a couple of broken glasses.
Unpacking on arrival at our new house went relatively smoothly.
Having a removal team kitted out in a "Conroy Removals" tee shirt or overalls would go a long way toward creating a professional image on removals day and we felt that we had been given the 'B' team.
