But when my belongings were picked up to be transported (I was not present) I very personal piece of antique furniture was broken. Not their fault but the piece that broken off was lost. It wasn't packed into a box or a box of belongings, it was not secured. Every time I think or look at the piece of furniture I see red and feel loss
I didn't received very good communication as to where my furniture was at all. I had to be the one to be chasing up for all updates and turns out my furniture arrived a week earlier into the city than I was initially told about. Luckily I called to get a better update. However it was disappointing that I didn't receive a call/notification when it arrived in my city.
I didnt receive any communication when the movers were arriving. I had to email for this information as I was advised I would receive a notification 1-2 days beforehand but this wasn't the case. I was running an errand and I received a call that the movers had arrived. But my email was still empty of a reply from my initial question asking when they were going to arrive. By the time I got a response (while uplift was already in progress) the reply advise they will be there for uplift 2 hours after they arrived (movers arrived 9am and my reply advised 11am-1pm).
A similar situation happened for the drop off. Once I chased up for updates on the Friday I finally organized a date for Tuesday and said most likely will be PM appointment but they will call me 1st thing on Tuesday to get a better idea. This did not happen. I had to chase up with 3 calls and an email (all calls went to voicemail) I finally got a call around 11am advising between 3pm-4pm they will be there. However, I got a call advising they were there already at 2 and waiting so I had to rush home, if they were running early why not advise me when they are on their way not when they are already there!!
My final and most unsatisfying and extremely upsetting and disappointing part is majority of my furniture was damaged and have made a claim to receive compensation. It's highly disrespectful that as many of my personal belongings were damaged when 1. I pay good hard earned money of mine to buy nice things for myself and 2. I pay good money for you to move and be advised they will be safe and protected and then most of it comes back damaged!!
The only good part was the movers at my uplift. They were very nice and respectful of my belongings and lovely to have in my home.
The rest of my experience I have left upset and disappointed.
Bitterly dissapointed with the delivery service I paid for. One mirror had the back punctured and something rubbing the back of the glass during transit that wore the silver reflective coating away from the mirror to now show transperant sections right through the mirror to the back. Mirror is now scrap. The second mirror had a sizeable section broken off the top in the transit from the Christchurch warehouse to my home, as your employee handed it over to me when he delivered it to me. How on earth are you still in business Conroy. I will always remember the Conroy name with this awful experience, and avoid it at all costs!
Overall rating: D
Recently retired we decided to move from Auckland to settle in Dargaville. Due to our age and the necessity to move a large home we approached several moving companies for quotes. While similar in value, others were abandoned in favour of Conroy who appeared most professional.
We duly showed its representative about the home, walking from top to bottom floor on a video call. A list of items was sent to us for confirmation. This inventory was later adjusted up to include more plants and a large painting. Before moving day we phoned to remove/add items and was told there had to be some flexibility and there’d be no additional charge for missed items as the bulk had been essentially accounted for.
On 06/01/2022, we received an email confirming truck/men would arrive at 0830 hours. They didn’t arrive until 1100 hours. From then we often heard the movers mention how they considered the job had been underquoted. Due to the size and scale of the job we were expecting a larger team. Toward the end of the packing job others arrived to assist.
On 11/01/2022, our possessions were delivered from about 1000 hours.
In the end we were not impressed by the mens attitudes and were glad to see the back of them.
The following day while unpacking we discovered multiple damages which included many broken ceramic plant pots, a wooden panel off a wardrobe, a draw from a mid century side table smashed, another badly damaged, an expensive mechanical drawing board arm also damaged beyond use, and a stereo speaker along with the more expected various crockery. Annoyingly, we were not told of any of the breakages at any time and left to find them as we unpacked. Some of these items appeared to have been deliberately hidden. At no time did any person from Conroy mention any damage had occurred.
In summary, although this was a challenging move with lots of stairs at one end, your team seemed ill-equipped.
My goods cleared US customs last December, and I still have not received them. Conroys US counterparts are now demanding an extra $112 because my goods were left on the dock for a month after clearing customs. Initially Conroys were very patient when I didn't know how to fill out the forms, but then made a bunch of small errors, for which I never received acknowledgement let alone an apology. When I questioned the charges and insisted that I shouldn't have to pay, since it was not my mistake, they denied any mistakes were made at all, even though I showed them copies of the emails dating back six months ago when my goods were first collected. I have no doubt Conroy will not want to work with me again, and the feeling is very mutual.
Left disappointed with this service. Initial communication where staff gave the impression they didn't want/ need our job. The person who ended up organizing the move was not even aware we were on their list. Deeply disappointed that minimal care was given to the stacking/ packing of truck to ensure goods were safely placed. Also the lack of wrapping of items led to damage of goods. Hugely disappointed that no responsibility on conroys part for this is acknowledged, and that the purchase of insurance covers packers inability to do a job efficiently/ properly. For some unknown reason the truck turned up for delivery with the padlock undone. Finally more disappointment to hear that staff do not enjoy their job... which obviously reflected in the way they perform or not perform.
