It is difficult to review our experience with moving because there are so many moving parts. While we had a fantastic response rate from Lynn as our main contact, we did indeed have some damage to some of our items. We were able to see that it was very obvious the movers had taken the items as they had been packed (which I carefully packed myself) from Heavy on the bottom to light on top and then just put them in their truck light on the bottom and heavy on top- even though the boxes were clearly marked. The 2 movers who arrived at our house were SUPER friendly and helpful and so we were grateful about that BUT we had a very heavy, expensive safe that was severely damaged because them and some additional movers put it face down with the key in it. While I did purchase insurance, it was for total loss only because we packed the container ourselves and they couldn't prove the condition of the goods in the first place. While I can understand this type of insurance- this is a case where the company (Conroy) clearly knows that the damage is their fault and acknowledged it in an e-mail to me (the key was only given to Conroy and therefore left in it by them) and it would be a reassuring and positive experience if they owned up to the damage of this item. This is why, despite an ok experience with them I would try another company if I had to move again.
This is the second time I have used Conroys and I was disappointed in the communication when I had problems regarding the online acceptance formand also when the driver was arriving in Motueka, I ended up having to contact the company to find out what was happening. The boys that packed were very nice but I am at the other end now and things I needed where I am staying are not here so not sure where it went wrong, I am going to check the storage shed today to see if the guys unloading put the boxes for York street in there, they were trying to unload so fast they were not looking at the labels, if they were running behind schedule it was not my problem and my property should still have been treated with respect. One of the guys unloading was very rough, I was not impressed with him at all.
Booked for 8.00am Saturday did not arrive till 9.30am I did get a phone from Paul advising that his team would be late and apologised and said they had been trying to find ramp for truck.
When the team arrived they did not have a ramp and I said to them there was a Piano to be moved and I had advised the office when making booking this was not on there notes
they then made contact with someone and made arrangements for another team to come and pick up the Piano a table tennis table and a swing set which I was happy with but the problem then was they turned up without the swing set as there truck was smaller than the other truck and it would not fit that team said to me oh well sorry you will have to make your own arrangements to pick up the swing set
If the communication between the office and the site staff was better there would not had been a problem
a positive however was the two site staff were very good but without that ramp and the right equipment it made the job harder
they did not receive that info
Prompt quoting and response to to queries, lovely staff on ground/delivery also :)
There was damage to my fridge. There initially was not enough staff to lift heavy items up stairs. No trolleys either.
A big thank you to the team who moved (and packed) my house ... you all did an amazing job (this includes admin and movers)...
In particular, I really appreciate the very kind and helpful efforts of Gary and Leon... I note that the access/drive at my new house is incredibly steep - it was rather a challenge - but these guys were brilliant.
Overall I was very very satisfied with my Conroys Experience...just a couple of Issues...first the Truck was 45mins late to arrive for Part Packing. Then there was an obvious miss-communication between myself & Doug (who came to quote)... as the 2 Blokes were quite annoyed that there was more packing than just the Kitchen. I had said to Doug I would pack a lot of Precious things, but I thought that we had agreed that some of the Pictures, Books & Ornaments etc... would also be packed. Never mind.... the Blokes were really good about it, when we helped.... & provided them with lunch & refreshments - they also got 3 other guys to come later to help load, as we needed to be off the Property by 3.30pm. Delivery was great - they were early, lucky I was also. It was a bit scarey though, as instead of bringing everything up the steps - they parked the Truck up on the Footpath, close to the wall & fence... & handed everything up & over a rock & concrete wall, & a trellis fence.. it was quite TERRIFYING.... some big items looked like they would get dropped (a double oak wardrobe & my washing machine) - THANKFULLY nothing did!! 3 Great Guys who were very friendly & did an efficient quick job...arrived 7.40am gone by 10.30 am. Only 1 broken plate - that's pretty damn good! :-)
